I think I was a mermaid in another life. I have this obsession with all thinks magical and the ocean. Now that I live in Connecticut, I live nowhere near the ocean, and so I had to bring the Mermaids to the Woods. This was a creative project for me. As a professional photographer, I think it is important to make artistic projects for your self to keep you happy and inspired. There is nothing worse than an artist without inspiration. I had a vision of mermaids swimming in the waters below a waterfall. Unfortunately I don’t live in the magical country like Iceland, and the waters in Connecticut are freezing even in the middle of summer. So we did out best with what we had. I scouted out locations and this spot was perfect. My gorgeous models were brave enough to face the icy waters as they were.
It was such a fun afternoon. We arrived at the location and my mermaids got their hair and makeup done. I had got in touch with my inner crafty side earlier that day and pre made the head pieces and neck jewelry all by myself. And their tails, well of course they were real!
It was so peaceful. Not a soul in sight. We were able to enjoy this beautiful natural paradise in silence and soak in it’s zen.
