Sometimes when you have a vision for a set, it doesn’t always quit turn out like the pictures in your head. Instead it turns out BETTER! I am not usually a ‘PINK’ person, but I am literally OBSESSED with this set. Honestly, before I pulled all this together, I had no idea what Tropical Boho was. It took a lot of research but we pulled ideas from lots of concepts, but still trying to make it more on the simple side. Then insert the most beautiful happy baby and you have the perfect Flamingo Tropical BoHo Cake Smash Session.
Covid interrupted a lot of plans for expecting moms and babies last year. Mom and dad had organized a maternity session with me mid 2020, but due to working on the front line, they were not able to take part. The baby arrived and things were still on the hairy side, so they missed out on their newborn session too. Thankfully, now with with things looking a little better, they were able to plan her First Birthday Cake Smash. And, It was amazing!

My favorite part about cake smash sessions is creating and designing the sets. The creativity is what I love! It is always a challenge finding the perfect little details to make the final touches and bring together someones vision and inspiration.
Pre Cake Smash Portraits
Before they get down and dirty with the cake, we spend a little time becoming accustomed to the environment and capturing some simple portrait photos of the baby. This usually involves a couple of simple set ups that usually tie in with the theme of the session.
THE SMASH – Flamingo Tropical Cake Smash
Lots of smiles from this little lady. She had so much funs smashing her cake. The sweetness of the frosting took her by surprise, but once she realized how good it was, there was no stopping her!

Post Cake Bubble Bath
This might be the BEST part of the session. Honestly, I think half the time the babies LOVE the Bubble Bath way more than the actual cake. Not this Lady though! Cake for sure was her main gig! Bubble baths are a great way to clean off and also get some splashing in!
