Where the Wild Things Are themed Cake Smash Session
Connecticut Cake Smash & First Birthday Photographer
When Baby Preston’s mom called me to set up a first birthday photo shoot, I was pretty excited when she mentioned that she wanted to create a Where the Wild Things Are themed Cake Smash! I love getting creative and I had the perfect backdrops for this little set up! Preston was the cutest little one year old ever! He was so full of smiles and personality. I spent most of the session laughing at how adorable this kids was! The faces he pulled were hysterical!
Pre-Cake Smash Portrait Photos
Before we get down and dirty with the smashing of the cake, I always do a couple of different simple prop set ups to capture some cute portrait photos of the babies. This adds a bit of variety the gallery but also gives a chance to capture some of their cute personality without necessarily being covered in cake! We kept Prestons set up nice and simple and he sure was cute! Gah, those baby rolls!
The Cake Smash!
You would have thought this kid would have loved cake! It was so pretty with all those colored sprinkles! But, I guess he wasn’t so much into the taste of sugar. The faces he pulled when he put the cake in his mouth. Oh my gosh, JUST TOO FUNNY!
He still managed to smash it and make plenty of mess!
The Mini Milk Bath!
Cake Smash Sessions end with a mini milk bath. This is usually their favorite part! Often the babies enjoy the milk bath more than the cake smashing. Go figure! Baby Preston sure did! This little guy splashed his little heart out. My poor wooden studio floors took a beating. lol
Optional Outdoor-Add-On
Cake Smash Sessions come with the option to add on a mini outdoor component to the session. This allows parents and siblings to quickly jump in for a couple of photos to commemorate the occasion. Preston’s Mom and Dad joined in for a few photos with their baby son. Overall, I think this Cake Smash Session was a total success. Cake was smashed and baby was full of smiles! Everyone was happy!
