We were blessed with another light dusting of snow the day before this gorgeous Maternity Session. I am sure everyone’s initial thoughts are ‘How could you stand to be outside in the freezing cold to take photographs?’. Well, It is not as bad as it sounds. Thankfully my Studio is nestled in the woods in Bridgewater Connecticut, so we start most of our winter Maternity Sessions indoors. Due to our location I am fortunate to be able to combine both indoor and outdoor aspects to the sessions providing my clients with a bit of everything. This also means we can run outdoors in the last half an hour of golden light and capture those magical sunsets. During the winter months, my clients stay warm by wearing big sorrel boots on under their dresses and a thick jacket to keep them warm. We march out to the spot where I would like them to stand, I help them with posing and then when I am all ready to click the shutter, they throw their jacket off to the side and… there you have it. I spend a bit of time photoshopping winter coats out of the photographs, and you would never know they were wearing huge warm insulated boots under their dresses! But there is nothing more gorgeous than a stunning pregnant mother-to-be standing in a field of snow with the sun setting behind her. It is all totally worth it.

Here are a few photos from this gorgeous mothers Studio part of the session. She had some ideas that she had envisioned that she had brought along with her. Prior to her session we had talked about all the things that she wanted to include into her photos. She had a beautiful ring that she had worn through out her pregnancy that she wanted to capture in a few of her photos, along with her ultrasound and a pair of adorable baby shoes.

And then the magical part of the session – The Outdoor aspect of her photoshoot was taken around the beautiful surrounding of the studio. Unfortunately no sunset that night, but we did get some moody clouds forming which was fun in its own way.
