This Vintage Floral Cake Smash might be one of my favorite Cake Smash Sessions of all times. Not only was the set gorgeous, but sweet Baby Olivia was full of smiles and had the most amazing time! Her gorgeous blue eyes were a light and her smile was always shining. Before Every Cake Smash Session, I go back and forth with the parents, specifically designing each set up for their baby. When Olivia’s mother mentioned ‘floral theme’ I was secretly jumping for joy inside. I love designing gorgeous set ups. She sent me all the outfits they had chosen for their Cake Smash and from there I got busy putting together something that would be perfect.
I like to start of with a few different portrait set ups before we go head first into the Cake Smash. It gives us time to connect and the baby to feel comfortable in front of the camera. Rubby duckies seem to be the favorite for all the babies which works out wonderful, because they go so perfectly with my vintage footed bath tub! Olivia loved the tub!
I wanted Olivia’s set to be beyond floral. Gorgeous greenery, soft pink flowers to match her outfit and a touch of rustic birch logs. I don’t think it could have been more perfect for her. Olivia was very much into smashing her cake. The best part was, she had just learnt to stand and walk, so sitting for her was not an option. Olivia did the majority of her Cake Smash standing up! It was so funny to watch, and she was having so much fun!
Once the baby’s are sufficiently covered in frosting, I love to bring out my old porcelain tub for a little milk bath to clean them all off. Most of them have more fun in the tub than they do smashing the cake. There is always lots of splashing, squealing and often a few tsunami waves to dodge.
