Nautical Themed Cake Smash Session
Well this was a first for this theme. I am actually surprised I hadn’t done this one earlier to date. It seems to be a popular theme for Newborn Sessions. I had so much fun creating this set up. I had recently purchased this old boat from a tag sale, so it forced me to get out and give it some TLC. Well, actually… I can not even take the credit for it. My husband was the one that painted it and made it look new again. It was the perfect little touch to this set. My client also brought some personal items from home to add that personal touch. All in all, I think it came out fabulous!

My favorite part about cake smash sessions is creating and designing the sets. The creativity is what I love! It is always a challenge finding the perfect little details to make the final touches and bring together someones vision and inspiration.
Pre Cake Smash Portrait Photos
Before they get down and dirty with the cake, we spend a little time becoming accustomed to the environment and capturing some simple portrait photos of the baby. This usually involves a couple of simple set ups that usually tie in with the theme of the session. We went with a rustic vibe for this little man. He brought his own outfit and absolutely loved having his photos taken! Often baby’s are just learning to walk on their own at this age. This little guy was all about showing me how he could stand on his own!
Nautical Themed Cake Smash!
The session is always so much more fun when the baby loves the cake! I don’t think he could believe that it was all for him! It was so much fun putting this nautical themed session together and it just makes it that much more amazing when they LOVE smashing their cake!
POST CAKE Bubble Bath
This might be the BEST part of the session. Honestly, I think half the time the babies LOVE the Bubble Bath way more than the actual cake. Who would have figured. Bubble baths are a great way to clean off and also get some splashing in! If its a baby’s first time in the bubbles, sometimes the bubbles look a lot like frosting! It doesn’t take them long to realize it is NOTHING like frosting! LOL
